Jointing System...
Because the connection between pipes often needs to be watertight, Atlantic have developed a system that will pass the requirements of “Sewers for adoption” 5th Edition, Clause 4.7.4 & 4.7.5, for air and water tightness respectively, as certified by the British Board of Agrément. This consists of an EPDM flat gasket and a steel band coupling, which is tightened around the pipe circumference by two U bolts, the steel band has two locating registers, which line up with the annular corrugations of the re-rolled pipe ends, these prevent the pipes from becoming disengaged and also compress the rubber gasket between the coupling and the pipe. Diameters up to 1500mm are supplied with a one piece coupling and sizes above, with a two or three piece coupling. As with all pipe systems, it is good practice to ensure that the coupling is kept free of debris, which would otherwise result in a non-watertight joint; this can be avoided by removing some of the bedding material under the pipe ends to form a hollow, this material should be replaced when the joint is complete. All pipes are marked on the inside wall, denoting the pipe and joint number, this enables the contractor to easily match the correct pipes to be jointed, especially when pipes have lateral connections. (Full jointing method statement is available on request and our field sales personnel would be pleased to advise on site).
