[structural and hydraulic design]

Hydraulic Design:
Atlantic Storm Water attenuation tanks are designed around the storage volume which is calculated by storm water source control software, e.g. "Micro Drain" which calculates the volume of attenuation required based on the catchment area, impermeability factors, storm event (e.g. 1:100 yr return) and the discharge restriction imposed by the Environment Agency or Regional Water Company etc. Atlantic will “Value Engineer” your attenuation design, with the “Best Fit” / “Best Value” layout to suit your storage, drainage levels and available footprint. We will also advise on drainage layout design upstream and downstream of the attenuation tank.

atlantic cspAtlantic CSP will design the "best fit" tank layout to suit your storage volume, drainage levels and available footprint. With an almost infinite amount of diameters and layouts we can "Value Engineer" your tank and associated drainage.

Culvert Design is usually calculated by hydraulic "Nomograph" which calculates the diameter required to accommodate a given flow at a specific gradient (Atlantic will advise on best practice).

Structural Design:
CSP structrures are designed to perform under main highway loading, normally assessed under 45 units HB + HA live imposed loads. As a flexible structure, CSP resists both static and dynamic loads by developing passive resistance within the backfill and forming a pipe/steel composite, transferring almost two-thirds of the load to the sidefill and native trench material; enabling it to withstand greater loads than a PCC pipe.

As part of the Atlantic warranty, we carry out structural design life calculations in accordance with the Highways Agency BD12 Specification which determines the steel thickness required to accommodate the site specific conditions. Atlantic operates the software “Design of Buried Corrugated Metal Structures” which considers all aspects of the installation. The chosen tank diameter and footprint will be determined, not only by the storage volume and levels, but also the minimum cover required to resist the anticipated imposed loads.

Atlantic manufactures a range of Industry Standard Section Profiles, from pre-galvanised steel to BS EN 10143 with G600 Galvanised Steel, (305gms/m2 on each surface) to provide a minimum design life requirement of 120 yrs although a more “Value Engineered” approach can be taken. Atlantic holds full BBA Certification and ISO: 9001 Q A. Every process of design and manufacture has been accredited by the BBA, validated by our Independent Third Party Structural Engineer and endorsed with our P.I. Warranty.
